Position Summary:

The Senior Consultant develops and leads the development of syndicated deliverables within a syndicated service. Senior consultants are responsible for the entire process for syndicated deliverables including developing research agendas, managing deliverable projects, and presenting to clients. This position has sales, client management, and service development responsibilities.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


1) Syndicated operations: (60-65% of time)

  • Participate in establishment and maintenance of operating budget and revenues for research services
  • Define portions of service content for assigned deliverable that align with practice area goals
  • Responsible for development of project plans for assigned service deliverables
  • Ensure that deliverables meet or exceed client expectations
  • Conduct phone and in-person interviews (45-60 minutes per interview)
  • Keep projects for assigned deliverables within budget and/or estimated timeline by anticipating and resolving issues internally and with clients
  • Work with operational areas including research Operations, Finance and Human Resources to ensure service team’s support of best practices
  • Write strategic and future orientated portions of deliverables
  • Completion and/or review of assigned deliverables, presentations and other relevant information
  • Ensure that assigned deliverables are completed on time with a high level of quality and accuracy


2) Client engagement and business development: (20 - 30% of time)

  • Deliver content to clients in multiple formats including presentations, electronic, written, and personal inquiry support
  • Support development of business and win client sponsorships for assigned service(s) that are consistent with HSG’s strategic goals
  • Work with Sales and Client Management to develop targeting, client development plans and meet sales and service requirements
  • Create eminence for assigned syndicated service with clients via content, publications, presentations and other client visible mechanisms


3) Associate development, manage and leadership: (15 - 25% of time)

  • Must supervise/manage direct report
  • Responsible to supervise/manage associates project work on assigned syndicated projects
  • Supervise/manage associates by providing clear expectations, direction and immediate performance feedback
  • Provide training and development to associates on key customer segments and pharmaceutical clients
  • Train and educate associates on company processes, operations, culture, clients and analytic skills
  • Effectively coach and develop associates across the firm
  • Develops associates skills through one-on-one coaching, mentoring/providing appropriate client opportunities to practice skills
  • Responsible to be viewed as a resource for information and guidance by all associates and specifically Analysts and Associate Consultants
  • Develops associates consulting skills through one-on-one coaching, mentoring/providing appropriate client opportunities to practice skills
  • Build and maintain high level of associate engagement through communication of common goals and emphasis on client satisfaction and positive team interactions
  • Develop/lead a team that consistently demonstrates HSG’s Leadership Competencies within the firm
  • Champion organizational initiatives across the firm


4) Firm operations/process management: (5 - 10% of time)

  • Works closely and effectively with all operating groups to achieve firm goals
  • Represent Practice Area on firm committees and work groups
  • Participate in new product development and new product launches
  • Execute the firm’s strategies and goals within service(s) as established for Practice Area

  • Must have ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-30% of time


Education & Experience Required:

  • B.S./B.A in relevant field of study required
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS, MPH) preferred
  • Five plus years of pharmaceutical, medical/health industry-related experience required
  • One plus years of experience in a specific pharma related content area
  • Two plus years of internal or external business/project development and leadership experience required
  • Two plus years of market research experience preferred
  • One plus years of experience successfully coaching and developing others skills and abilities
  • Basic knowledge of the oncology market required
  • Working knowledge of oncology brands in either breast, lung or hematologic conditions preferred
